Taichung - SUN MOON LAKE 日月潭

The other hotel we look at was either to far or too pink (room design) so we decided to book back the hotel we stay in the last time....潭暉民宿 . As usual the aunty was a bit blur but it was OK because she up graded our room in the end, it was really nice. If you are adventure enough don't worry about pre booking a room in 日月潭 because if you go there you can bargain the price.

We decided to ride on the cable car which was not build the first time we were there. This is a great way to view the beautiful scenery of the lake and it take you to directly to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village but we didn't visit because our parent was a bit tire to walk.

We than went on the boat ride around the lake and even though this is the second time me and Teng went, I still love it especially since the weather was beautiful and the wind blowing in our face was so refreshing.

It wouldn't be me and Teng if we did not do something crazy.....First picture, we are acting out the famous Chinese verse written on the stone, second picture is me and my lucky coin.

If we have to do crazy thing so does our mother....Here we are posing in a goddess praying position just like the the stone status.

I have no idea what this boat are for but I would have love to rent one of this to go around the lake. Teng say it might be for fishing.

That night was our lucky night because there was a culture show in the next town and they even provided us with shutter bus to take us there and back. We were entertain the night with aboriginal culture show and follow by firework to end the night we sat down for roast pork and chicken with rice wine.....

Taichung - Shinshe is famous for producing Mushroom, so we know it was must try. The taxi driver recommend this steamboat restaurant. It was delicious...

Apart from Lavender Cottage there is other attraction around the surrounding to stop by like Mushroom Farm, Strawberry Farm and lots more. For us we hire a taxi who offer to drive us around, make sure you bargain with them the price and the number of places they will stop for you to visit. We were really lucky because when we were there, an flower expo was taking place so the taxi recommend we check it out, we were not disappointed....

Taichung - Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林

Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林 - You might not find this in any tour book or recommend by any tour agent but if you google the place you get a thousand hit. Yoke Teng somehow stumble on it in a Taiwan tourism brochure, the minute she say the word 薰衣草森林 (Lavender forest) it sounded beautiful. We started googling about it, we found story on how The Lavender Cottage started as a dream of 2 Taiwanese city girls who wanted to have a romantic hideaway, the business had now expanded to other part of Taiwan. Here is the website you can get more info on Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林. They also have facebook, they are really helpful in traveling detail. A note of interest is that Lavender Cottage 薰衣草森林 is located up in the mountain but there are other attraction to visit. If you take the shutter bus they provide, you can choose to get down at different location or you can hire a taxi and bargain the price.

Drinking tea seem like a must in Jiufeng 九份 as there is nothing much to do after night, however do check out and compare price first. Some of the more famous one are really expensive. Thank to Teng we found one that we think is the best of the best 九份咖啡茶館. At first the owner do seem over passionate and really persuasive, highly recommending his fruit tea telling us if it not nice we didn't have to paid, with promise like this of cause the drink are delicious. Don't worry when you have to walk through the dark tunnel it just create a more mystery feel to it. Once you passed the tunnel you walk into a antic world, it is beautiful.

Jiufeng 九份 - The Beautiful View

The view from anywhere you stand in Jiufeng 九份.

This is the reason why one should stay overnight in Jiufeng 九份, with a cup of tea at hand you can watch the beautiful skylight go dim and the town light goes bright. It is an amazing feeling watching the time goes by.

The different between day and night in Jiufeng 九份. Most day trip traveler would not understand the beauty of walking the street at night.

The many lantern hanging along the street of Jiufeng 九份 make it so vintage at night.

Jiufeng 九份 - Homestay 溫莎堡景觀民宿

I love Jiufeng 九份 the first time, I love it the second time and if I were to go to Taiwan again I will probably be going back again. Like the first timeJiufeng (九份) 1st trip I will recommend that one should stay overnight instead of just a day trip. I truly feel that you can enjoy much more of Jiufeng, you can get to walk the street when the tour bus are gone, you can sit down and enjoy a cup of tea (look for it carefully) with wind whispering in your ear.

溫莎堡景觀民宿I stay here the first time and thought of trying new homestay for the second trip but after days of google I think this is still the best choice even thought it is on the pricey side but you get the beautiful view, the service (they drove us down to the train station because we said we were traveling with elder and it was raining for no extra cost)and the beautiful design of the room.

At the 涵館 Coffee Shop which is owned by the home stay not only do they have breakfast which is delicious, their tea time is also a great treat and the greatest thing is that both are free.

Jiaoxi, Yilan - 礁溪

Jiaoxi 礁溪 was just a stop over for us to relax and enjoy what it's famous for, the hot spring. Thing to know is that Jiaoxi 礁溪 is small rural town, in fact it is just a few street to walk around. Everything here is about hot spring, there is unlimited number of home stay (民宿) and hotel which provide hot spring water that run directly into their hotel. There is also a few free public hot spring spots, mostly sheltered, where visitors can enjoy a leisurely foot bath at any time. One last thing to remember is don't look for foods to late as most shop close very early.

Everywhere you go there is a public hot spring spot for you to just take your shoe off and dip in. There is even one just outside the train station.

Sorry for so few photos, this is because we ate too much in Hualian that food was the last thing we have in mind. We did find this small shop which we ate during tea time, they server this unique dish of peanut sauce on flat noodle with shredded chicken, it was delicious. One thing a must is the vege as they are known to have grown using spring water.

Everywhere you turn is a home stay, so don't worry about not finding one. Emma House This is the home stay we stay in, everything is as it advertise on the website except it's a bit far on foot from the train station but they do provide transport so no worry. The photo here is the lobby area and the place for breakfast.

we book a room for 5 person, they have a upper divided level. Me and mom took the upper deck.

This is the where Teng, her mom and her aunt slept.

This is the bathroom, they are run with spring water.

I think it is a good idea to stop over here for a relaxing rest after a lot of walking.

Hualian - Food trail....EAT EAT EAT

Be prepare to eat when staying in Hualian. We in fact spend a whole afternoon going on a food tail and I mean that literally. Thank to 小羅 (home stay owner) we ate one place after another, he wanted to show people what to eat in Hualian so they handmade little map to allowed their guest to follow and go on a food tail.

This was our first stop and it come highly recommended, Mr Goose 鵝肉先生 is the name of the shop. More info and map check out 鵝肉先生. This was beautiful and delicious...A must when visiting Hualian.

By the look on their face you know they are happy to eat. There are two person missing here one busy taking photo the other busy eating ha ha Teng mom really enjoy it...

Second stop is just down the street from the goose shop. A dumpling shop 公正包子, this place is like a celebrity of Hualian, Internet, TV program and magazine had all introduced the place. It is nice and cheap compared to the one you find in Malaysia. Teng mom just love it, after this everywhere we went she asked for dumpling.

After some shopping our third stop is a cup of coffee, The Mud Cafe 泥巴咖啡. This too come highly recommended for it coffee (really strong and with great aroma the minute the coffee are served) and for it bagel which is actually called ‘mouse bagel’. The cafe is owned by very friendly old uncle which come with a great story 泥巴咖啡.

Last stop of the day Japanese restaurant 賀川壽司屋 as you can tell from the picture, we did not order a lot because we were so full by then. This is one place highly recommended by me. I had eaten in many Japanese restaurant but none as satisfy as this one. I guarantee you get quality and quantity however be prepared as this place is not easy to find and also you have to queues. This is day 2 food trail, there is not much because we spend the whole day sight seeing. First stop is this soup shop, come out of the train station walk right across the street and there you see a row of eatery and this shop is the first shop. The fish was fresh and the soup was sweet.

Like I say early all along the street there is different store, so you can tried out the foods little at time.....The food trail for the second day was really just the soup shop because we were dead tired.

Hualian - Jian Chinxiu Temple 吉安慶修院

If you have free time at hand, this can be one of the place to visit....There is really nothing much except for it history and the peaceful beauty.

The surrounding will really make you feel like you are in Japan.

Hualian Bookshop - 時光二手書

(Photo credit to Teng). I learned a long time ago that the best kind of holiday is going to places and doing thing that is out of the ordinary. The great thing about home stay 柚子家 is that they show you a different kind of holiday in Hualian. They recommend the norm but they also want you to see thing that leave you with different kind of memory from other tourist. When I first saw on their blog a post with title 讓時間停留在時光二手書 (Direct translate "spare some time and stop by Time secondhand bookstore")again I told Teng is a must stop by.

The place is like going back memory lane. You walk through alley looking for a plain wooden house, once inside is like back in the 60.....

Once you enter it feel like you have walk into a small kindergarten library.

The place is like a timeline the deeper you go inside the further you go back in time.

I really like this photo, this is Teng aunt indulge in the music she is listening to....So peaceful.

While we were there we met up with an old friend 三間仔.

Hualian CiSingTan - 花蓮七星潭

No words can be use to describe the beauty of this place when I first saw a picture of the beach I was speechless. When we talked about beaches first thing come to mind is the sea and sand but here sand is replaced by pebbles stones.....million and million of pebbles stones running along the beach.

I wanted to go there early to catch the sunrise but the night before 小羅 told me there was no hope as the weather was not on my side however he say that we can still go really early because there would not be many people around and by that we can feel the peace and quiet of the sea (we went before sunrise, so we were the only crazy people there). He also told us that if you sleep on the pebble stone you can listen to the beautiful sound of the wave and the cold feeling of the pebble on our body just send you to another level of peace.

At 6am in the morning when everything was at it utmost peace and quiet, there was 3 crazy women jumping up and down for photo.

Since 3 women was jumping around like crazy we have 2 beautiful auntie sitting around enjoying the beach.....No they were looking for precious stones.

Hualian Taroko Gorge - 花蓮太魯閣

Hualian Taroko Gorge - 花蓮太魯閣 is a must for first timer to Hualian and if you are a nature lover. As usual expect lots and lots and lots of walking. Basically you get to see a lot beautiful scenery. The best way to get there is asked home stay to arranges for you, second get a taxi and bargain the price and lastly go by bus. The Taiwan Tourism Office began running a Tour Taiwan (台灣好行) Taroko Bus departing from Hualien train station, stopping at Sincheng station, Taroko Tourist Information Centre (太管處), Shakadang Trail (砂卡礑), Buluowan (布洛灣), Swallows Grotto (燕子口), Tunnel of Nine Turns (九曲洞), Lushui (合流.綠水) and finishing at Tiansiang (天祥) but you have to take the chance of waiting for bus or chasing after a bus.

The scenery are very breath taking.

The formation of the rock can bring one to many imagination. Teng mom was seeing all sort of image.

Hualian homestay 花蓮民宿柚子家

I would love to introduced anyone who decide to go to Hualian to stay in this home stay. I promise you will experience a whole new idea of holiday. The home stay is owned by a young couple 柚子&小羅. They will make sure you leave with a smile, lots of memory and above all will definitely wish to come back again. you can contact them through their website 花蓮民宿柚子家.

Be prepared to do a bit of walking if you get the room on the top floor.

樂活雙人套房 This was my room.

Lounge雙人套房 Teng room, this one can add beds to accommodate up to 4 person.

When you arrived 三間仔 will greet you and when you leave 三間仔 will bid you farewell.

Don't expect a happening night when you are there. The place is away from the town, when night come it is just an empty street. For us it was still great fun because me, Teng, 柚子,小羅 and another guest (sorry forgot her name because it was so long ago) all gather at the living room and chat the night away with 小米酒 and snack of cause.

When it come to breakfast it is a selling point of this home stay. What make 柚子 home stay so unique is they are very thoughtful. The breakfast they prepare are all homemade healthy foods because they know after all the junk street food we stuff our self during our stay. They made sure we eat a healthy meal before we leave.

Taipei - Food trail......

I am hopeless compared to other blogger when it come to blogging about foods because usually I dive straight into eating and forget that I had to take photo. Here is the best I can do...

Sorry for the lack of photos because our first round of dumpling basically fill us up...This is one of the many night market in Taipei called 寧夏夜市. It is suppose to be famous for it foods.

Morning breakfast...In KL finding what to eat in the morning is the least of the problem but in Taiwan is bit difficult. Thank to Yoke Teng sharp eye we found this. I don't know what this is but the best way to described it is glutinous rice paste with meat filling. Also it come with a bowl of sotong soup.

Dumpling once more for breakfast...The carrot cake is great. This is located opposite 臺北當代藝術館‎ on 台北市大同區長安西路.

I found this on the web b4 going to Taiwan. I told Yoke Teng is a must have.....I make her walk and walk and walk to have this but it is a must must must try. Check out their website R9 Cafe

Best thing when on holiday is after all the walking you find a nice cafe to rest and cool down. Taipei have lots of cafes every corner you turn you will find one but compare to Bangkok be prepared to paid...it is bit more expensive.

Japanese food is extremely popular in Taiwan, Yoke Teng found this on a TV program and we made it our goal in finding the place. Firstly this eatery is located in wet market at night in one of the suppose notorious place in Taipei or so it used to be. Although the food taste great but we were bit a disappointed because on the TV show it was more worth the money. A must try is the sashimi salad and the grill fish head.

This is our most expensive meal we had on the whole trip and it is so not me when I tell you this is a vegetarian restaurant.

 大塊牛排淡水店 is located at 淡水中正路. If you ask me what I highly recommend the most for food on this trip I would say is this steak house at Danshui. This is all in one package for good place to eat cheap great foods. For less then RM30 you have any one meats or seafood's with two sauce for choice, side dish of egg and pasta, mushroom soup with bread and free flow of drink. The foods taste just as great as the picture shown above.

This was the meal we had in 烏來 as I had said b4 the scenery is more captivating then the foods but it is a must to try the different vege.

I dont remember when is the last time I walk into 7-11 in Malaysia but in taiwan it is like a shopping trip. Try this coffee in the blue bottle, a coffe to die for

白沙灣沐藍棧渡假民宿 ~ Ocean Blue Inn ~ is the place we stay the night. The interior design is beautiful, the location is great (Away from the commercial town but easy to get to. It's located just in front of the Baishawan 白沙灣 bus stop), the view from the place is beautiful, the owner is friendly and thoughtful and the best of all they are English friendly. Taipei - Baishawan 白沙灣

Our last stop in Taiwan is the beach Baishawan 白沙灣. Although you can go for a day trip we opt for a night stay (I think that's the best to finish off the trip).

The best way to reach is go to Dansui by MRT or bus and then taking the Dansui Express Bus or the Taichi Express Bus bound for Jinshan 金山 and get down at Baishawan stop. You can ask the bus driver to inform you when to get off. Make sure you shop for some snacks, drinks(beer), best instant cup noodle as there is no convenient store around.

The beach is well equip with tents (free just go early to book it).

It was heaven......The best way to end our holiday is watching the sunset with a instant cup noodle and a cup of coffee.

Taipei - 貓空

Maokong (貓空) is located in Wenshan District of Taipei, Taiwan. The area used to be the biggest tea growing area of Taipei. Now it had transform into a tourist attraction for local and foreigner. It is a popular place for tea culture and viewing the night scenery of Taipei City.

The easy way to go there (for me lah) is take the MRT to the Zoo station then take Maokong Gondola (貓空纜車). It cost only RM 5 for the Gondola. There is also minibus services deliver passengers directly back to the Taipei Zoo MRT station

The beautiful view from the Maokong Gondola (貓空纜車) ride. So make sure you stay awake.

When you reach the top, you find a lot of restaurant, cafe and tea house. Don't just stop there because they are more for tourist. The best is take a map and go for walk (a long walk). You will find more great tea house as you walk deep inside and less commercial.

This one is highly recommended, plum ice cream. It's sold at a shop on your left hand side once you come out of the Gondola station and look for kind old lady..

Great thing about taking long walk is that you will be able to laugh with your friends and take a lot of 白痴 photo.

second pix show a dog tie to hot dog stand...we have a good laugh out of that.

After long long long long walk, we reached our destination, The tea house.

After all the walking this is a great way to enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Taipei Wulai - 烏來

Wulai (烏來) is a small town in Taipei County Taiwan and famous for its hot springs. We opt for Taxi because there was four of us. From Taipei main station it cost us around RM60 running on meter. You can also opt for MRT take the Xindian line to Xindian Station then take the bus Number 849 with destination name 烏來 Wulai at the bus stop in front of the station.

After walking around the small town, try out the little train which bring you back memory lane on the old way of transport.

Expect to do a lot of walking and hiking but when you reach the top it will be all worth it.

This is our final stop....It will kill us to walk further...

I think the main attraction for me in Wulai is the hot spring....No particular recommendation, there are so many choices just google or once you get there ask for recommendation from the local...They are really friendly. You can also check it out before you choose.

After all the walking and hot spring food is all we had in mind. You can try the street food along old street (烏來老街). A must tried is the wild boar meat....We chose a restaurant a local recommended. The beauty here is where we were dining in....The scenery make any food taste great.

Taipei Late Night - Ez5 Live House

After constant nagging about staying up late when on holiday, my friend make sure I get my dose of late night....黃啟彰 highly recommended and took us to Ez5 Live House, it was better then I have expected for a late night out. It is located on Taipei’s Anhe Road (安和路), directly opposite Shangri-La Hotel.

Although it was a bit pricey, we had to pay RM 70 each for cover charge that come with any two drink on the menu or one food dish and a drink. To me it was worth every cent cosy place, great music and drink that make my head spin.

This is me acting like a little fan. 卓义峰 is one of the three performer that night and I love him.

As u can see by now I don't have a lot of pictures here. I would love to have taken more but there is no photo taking during performance and I didn't have my camera with me...I was using 啟彰 cool lomo camera...

Since there was so much walking someone have to take their shoe off.

After Ez5 with my head spinning and talking non stop we make out way to supper (Stinky tofu, it didn't smell that bad maybe it was because of the alcohol).

We took a lot of 白痴 photos, these are the normal one. I have so much fun thank to these friends. Thank Thank Thank.....

The title say it all......It was great....I didn't go all out and take every shot of foods I put into myself but I have to admit that Singapore's hawker it getting up to par if not better then Malaysia....

Tiramisu

Mango flavour - First thing to rave about is the fruit tarts at Manpuku - Tampines 1 where Jane live. One word say it all delicious. This come highly recommended by Jane.

After a crazy night of dancing, the next day the thing we needed most was coffee and after all the standard one (coffee bean, Starbucks blah blah blah) we found one cute small Vietnamese coffee shop call Bagette-the viet inspired deli (with Internet).

Another cafe we went to was after going to the Penarakan Museum. The name was Soho7 just a few door from the shop which was selling the cameras I love. In the two coffee shop we went to one thing it was a must was free wireless...

Singapore is always the last place I would choose to go on holiday....because the exchanges rate is just crazy. Well I guess with all this inspire shit that is going around Star it made me want to run to the nearest place I can find....So I took my camera go with Teng and here is what I see in Singapore

Teng say she find that the tree in Singapore is beautiful.......Don't ask me why hope she can explain this clearly in her blog.

Architectures is beautiful in Singapore everywhere you walk there is a sense of history and when the light is turn on at night the busy boring town is transformed

Shopping seem to be a big thing I was there during Singapore great sale but I only brought a bag and shoe :(:(:( all because of our stupid money

When I saw Teng in the reflection I thought it was such great model pose so stylish but she had to come and tell me later she was scratching her back.

One of my favorite thing about this trip is finding a shop near the peranakan museum that sell all sort of cameras. I was too excited I forgot to get the name of the shop. Also Teng promise me when she become a rich tai tai, she will get one as a birthday present for me.

It's driving me crazy how I should start blogging my trip to Taiwan last year (I know is last year) I had taken over 1000..... of photos. After much brain working, I decided to start off with my favourite place of the whole trip Hualian (花蓮).....This is my second time to 花蓮, the first time was enjoyable but not as great as this time around....The thing I found to love most about 花蓮 is don't expect to much and just walk the street and feel the existence of the serene neighbourhoods and the people around of cause there is the foods.

Mystic Place Rooms - Bangkok

Apart from shopping, spa and foods.....The other thing I love about Bangkok is the hotel. I choose my hotel very carefully so my traveling will turn out to be more unique... This time I found another boutique hotel 'Mystic Place Rooms' a bit far from town but is OK because its close to the MRT. Here is their website http://www.mysticplacebkk.com/. Each room is different in theme by different designer. Check out the photo...Another praise about them is that they give great recomendation for place to go in bangkok...They have free tuk tuk service for places close to their hotel...

Cute bunnies bun for the coming Chinese New Year, tasty tasty tasty....

3s Char Siew Pau for RM4. The size smaller then usual but just the right size for me because I wouldn't be to full after eating it and it taste really good. Thin layer of dough with juicy filling.

Sorry for posting so few photos because on the day of the food review I didn't eat much. They do have an extensive varieties, I especially love the Shanghai dumpling which is soak in vinegar chili oil and the custard salted egg lau sa pau....Must try..

The dumpling are made of fresh ingredients everyday.
